Información sobre la blancorexia o obsesión por los dientes blancos en clínica dental de Los Cristianos, Tenerife.

Aesthetic treatments are now much more accessible than before and that has increased the number of people who resort to various treatments to improve some aspect of their body. As for dental aesthetics, there are many options but surely the best known and most used treatment is whitening, which is used to have whiter teeth and a brighter smile. But what happens when the whites of the teeth obsess us? And when we overdo it with the tone? We are possibly talking about blancorexia.

Blancorexia is the name given to this obsession with having whiter and whiter teeth. The sense of reality is lost and colors that have nothing to do with natural white are applied. However, beyond the aesthetic results, blancorexia can also have negative effects on our health.

How can blancorexia affect us?

A good professional will always recommend a white tone that is natural, that is in accordance with the face and, above all, that does not stand out for its artificiality. However, unfortunately we also find malpractice in some centers, which tend to encourage these toxic and unhealthy relationships with our physique.

On the other hand, we see that home treatments have proliferated, which are abrasive and can cause serious damage to teeth and gums, such as brushing with baking soda. We also find teeth whitening treatments that are sold online, which do not have any guarantee and that usually contain substances such as melamine or chlorine, harmful to oral health.

Finally, if we have access to safe treatments, whether in a specialized center or in a pharmacy, it is essential not to abuse them. Because even if the treatment is safe, if we use it too often, it has negative effects.

At Clínica Bajo we recommend that you always go to a professional who will advise you on how to get a whiter and more natural smile without putting your oral health at risk.
