Colocación de joyas dentales realizada de forma segura en clínica dental especializada en Tenerife

Although dental jewelry is not a novelty, it is true that at certain stages it resurfaces as part of fashion and surprises us all, even with new formats. When we talk about this type of jewelry we refer to those pieces that are placed on the teeth to attract their attention. They are generally made of gold, silver or shiny stones although, as we have said, new models are emerging every time.

Young people are the ones who, for the most part, fall into this fashion as an option to highlight the smile with a touch of originality. And it is also a totally harmless accessory since, unlike piercings, it does not need a piercing. However, the truth is that dental jewelry also carries risks, and it is important to know them before using them.

What are the risks of wearing dental jewelry?

On the one hand, it is important to emphasize that many times pieces are used that are not of very good quality and that being in constant contact with our mouth, they can produce side effects. In addition, if a very large size is chosen, it can influence the ability to open or close the mouth, generating tension in the jaw muscles, or even producing chafing.

On the other hand, this type of tooth supplement can promote the storage of food debris, generating bacteria and, therefore, increasing the risk of dental caries or even the risk of damage to the gum tissue.

At Clínica Bajo we have different aesthetic treatments to improve our smile. However, we consider that oral health is always essential and there are certain dental jewels that can harm it. If we choose to use such a complement, we must make sure that it is of good quality and that it is put on by a professional. It is advisable to go for regular check-ups to prevent any inconvenience
