Social media filters sneak into aesthetic medicine

Información sobre la influencia de las redes sociales en la medicina estética en clínica especializada de Tenerife

The influence that social networks have on our society is no secret. They have transformed the way we communicate and also the way we perceive reality. Undoubtedly, social networks have great power, the problem is when that influence carries some negative connotation, for example, hoping to be the same one day as with filters.

Young people are the main users of social networks and in some cases it is a physical pressure that can lead to problems. Filters, as we all know, allow us to make funny videos or photos, or even see ourselves with a face quite different from our real one. From the point of view of aesthetic medicine, the problem is when you aim to reach that surreal, almost dehumanized figure.

Beauty beyond social media filters

It is not an isolated case, many people come to the consultation with a photo of themselves under the effects of a filter. That is the objective. However, real life is something else, and as we have said, most of these effects cause a distorted image of reality. Many things about the face can be improved, but we must not forget human beauty.

This brings another problem, and that is that the demands of young people are increasingly high, but they do not realize that they are unrealistic demands, which can cause a lot of frustration, seeing that we never reach that “idyllic beauty”.

At Clínica Bajo we believe that it is best to have the assessment of an aesthetic medicine professional. In addition to recommending the best treatments for our specific case, they also take into account our circumstances. Aesthetic care goes beyond social networks and filters and this is how we see it on a daily basis with the result of our treatments.
