Asesoramiento nutricional sobre el consumo de fruta y pérdida de peso en Clínica Bajo, Los Cristianos.

At Clínica Bajo we always emphasize that food is one of the fundamental tools to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This also includes aesthetic aspects, for example the care of our skin. Including fruit and vegetables in our daily diet provides us with great benefits such as nutrients and vitamins necessary for our skin to have more vitality, among many other things.

However, when it comes to eating fruit on a daily basis, we come across some myths that have survived over the years and that, unfortunately, affect the diet of many people. Today we want to demystify those statements and truly know what is the effect that fruit has on our body

Eating fruit daily is healthy and necessary

Does eating fruit make you fat? Is it bad to eat it at night? Should it be eaten as a dessert or, on the contrary, is it harmful? Surely on more than one occasion you have asked yourself these questions and today we are going to clear up all doubts.

The first thing to note is that fruit is a fresh food rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber, which is very beneficial for our health. This food contains fructose, which is, to put it simply, natural sugar, nothing to do with refined sugar. Fructose has a much slower effect on the blood because it is accompanied by the fiber present in the piece, however, refined fructose goes directly into the bloodstream, creating insulin spikes. In other words, the body assimilates fructose in a completely different way from other refined and added sugars.

Eating fruit in the evening or in the morning is indifferent. That belief that if we do it at night it has the effect of gaining weight is completely false. We must bear in mind that we are talking about a very low-calorie food that provides many nutrients that we have mentioned above, so it is a good food to eat at any time.

Now, like everything, it must be taken in the recommended amounts, if our only food during the day is fruit, we will not be having a balanced diet even if the protagonist of it is a healthy product. If we want to carry out a diet to lose weight, the best option will always be to go to a professional who can guide us with a diet adapted to our circumstances and needs.

Are you worried about how your diet affects your smile?

Beyond calories, eating a lot of fruit (especially citrus fruits or dried fruits) exposes your teeth to natural acids and sugars that can weaken enamel and promote cavities. At Clínica Bajo, your dental clinic in Los Cristianos, we help you keep your mouth shielded against these acids. If you haven’t checked your smile for more than a year, we recommend having your teeth professionally cleaned to remove plaque and protect your enamel. Make your appointment today!

Tip: After eating acidic fruit (such as oranges or pineapple), don’t brush your teeth immediately. Rinse with water and wait 30 minutes so as not to wear away the acid-softened enamel
