Tratamiento para eliminar cicatrices faciales con medicina estética en clínica dental de Los Cristianos, Tenerife Sur.

Everyone, or practically everyone, has some type of scar on their skin. These become another mark on our body, but that doesn’t mean we always accept it or are happy with it. Depending on the person, the location, and the circumstance, there are scars that we prefer to erase and others, on the other hand, that we wear with pride.

Can aesthetic medicine help us eliminate scars? At Clínica Bajo, we believe that the best thing to do is a personalized study of each case to see the type of scar and the possibilities of treating it. Today we are going to talk a little more extensively about this to understand that although there are treatments that can soften scars, a mark will always remain.

Eliminating scars thanks to aesthetic medicine

Scars, more than just an aesthetic problem: how can we minimize them?

The first thing we must take into account is that scars can be diminished practically in their entirety in some cases, but a mark of what it was will always remain. A good simile to understand this is a broken bone. That bone can be perfectly healed, but after a few years we will still see a mark of that break on the X-rays.

Luckily, aesthetic medicine helps us to treat scars, but it is necessary to study what type of scar it is. In general terms, we can divide scars into three groups:

  • Atrophic: when they are slightly sunken and are not at the same level as the skin.
  • Hypertrophic: when they are slightly raised from the skin.
  • Keloids: they can be like the previous ones but, in addition, they are usually indurated. That is, to the touch, the area is much harder.

Although the success in eliminating a scar depends almost entirely on the type of scar and the type of skin and healing capacity of the patient, there are other things that we must take into account, such as that sunlight worsens the appearance of a scar, so it should always be protected with sunscreen, and that the sooner it is treated, the better effect we can achieve.

At Clínica Bajo we have some treatments to soften scars but, as we have said, the first step will always be to analyze each case individually. If you want to eliminate a scar, do not hesitate to visit us in the south of Tenerife so that our professional team can advise you personally.
