Symptoms and Signs of Periodontal Disease<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Both gingivitis and periodontitis rarely cause pain, so patients suffer from it without being aware of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first symptom of periodontal disease is bleeding gums<\/strong> when brushing. When it is already evolved, symptoms such as gum recession<\/strong>, mobility, increased sensitivity, bad breath appear… The evolution of the disease varies from one patient to another, in some it evolves quickly and in others it is slower, but without treatment you will always lose your teeth. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Treatment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The goal of treatment is to eliminate the infection that causes the disease. At our dental clinic in Tenerife<\/strong> we use mini-instruments and minimally invasive techniques to remove bacteria that have accumulated<\/strong> under the gum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In some cases, periodontal microsurgery<\/strong> is needed in certain areas of the mouth to restore tissues that have been damaged. These surgeries are performed with a microscope and microsurgery materials, reducing their aggressiveness and therefore leading to an excellent post-operative period<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Preventive treatment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Periodontal patients are people prone to this oral disease. The bacteria that cause it are present in their mouths, so you need to do everything you can to avoid a relapse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the treatment is completed, the risk of periodontal destruction of each patient will be assessed. Due to the multi-factorial component of periodontal disease, there are factors that the professional cannot control, so periodic supportive treatment<\/strong> and review is necessary to avoid areas of relapse. This periodicity will be assessed in each particular case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We call this phase the maintenance phase<\/strong>, where we detect areas of relapse early before bone loss occurs. It should not be confused with conventional oral cleanings.
