Beneficios de los arándanos para la memoria y la salud cognitiva según Clínica Bajo, Los Cristianos.

At Clínica Bajo we always defend the famous phrase “we are what we eat”. Food has a direct impact on our body and our health, we have mentioned it many times with examples of those foods that benefit or damage our teeth or our skin. Well, according to a recent study, blueberries have properties that help with dementia.

This study has been carried out at the University of Cincinnati and has been published in the journal ‘Nutrients‘. Robert Krikorian was the director and the conclusion is none other than that blueberries, thanks to their high content of micronutrients and antioxidants, promote neuronal activity.

Study Reveals Continued Blueberry Consumption Reduces Risk of Dementia or Alzheimer’s

The study was conducted with 33 middle-aged patients (between 50 and 65 years old), who were overweight and had noticed a decline in memory. For three months, the patients could not eat blueberries, only a supplement to mix with water provided by the equipment itself. Half of the participants received a supplement equivalent to half a cup of whole blueberries, the other half received placebo.

After three months, the scientists found that those patients who ate blueberries daily showed an improvement in cognitive tasks. In addition, an improvement in a cellular process that is associated with greater longevity was shown.

The resolution of this study is a great advance and very good news. The prevention of dementia or Alzheimer’s is essential and if we can accentuate it with food, much better.
